St. George homes
Built for St. George’s hillside streets
St. George climbs the hill above the ferry terminal, so a project here can be a 19th-century frame house with a steep stoop, an elevator building from the 1920s or a new apartment facing the harbor.
Victorian & frame houses
Queen Anne, Italianate and shingle houses in the St. George historic district, with high ceilings, bay windows and original trim that built-ins and bookcases are scribed to.
Prewar apartment buildings
Brick and masonry elevator buildings near Richmond Terrace and the civic center, where kitchens and closets are planned around small elevators and board rules.
New waterfront buildings
Recent rental and condo buildings near the ferry and the harbor, where standard fit-outs give way to custom closets, media walls and kitchen upgrades.
Hillside lots & stoops
Steep streets, terraced lots and long front stairs mean pieces are sized for the climb from the curb and the turns inside the house.

What we build
What we build for St. George homes
Older houses here tend to need millwork fitted to irregular rooms; newer apartments usually need storage that makes compact layouts work harder.

Custom Millwork
Built-in bookcases around bay windows, window seats, paneling and kitchen cabinetry fitted to the uneven walls and tall ceilings of older houses.
Custom Millwork
Aluminum & Glass Systems
Aluminum-framed glass closets, cabinet doors and lit shelves for newer apartments, built in our Brooklyn shop as modules that fit standard elevators.
Aluminum & Glass Systems
Indoor Fireplace Systems
Planika bioethanol fireplaces need no chimney or gas line, which suits apartments with harbor views; room size, air circulation and clearances vary by model.
Fireplace SystemsAluminum & glass systems: cabinet doors, modular closets, wall displays and glass shelves.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you deliver to St. George from Brooklyn?
Yes. Our shop is in Industry City, Brooklyn, and pieces come over the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge by truck on a scheduled day. Parking and the route up to the house are planned ahead.
Can built-ins be fitted to an older St. George house?
Yes. Pieces are built to final site measurements and drawings, so they can be scribed to walls, floors and ceilings that are no longer square.
What works best in a newer waterfront apartment?
Aluminum & glass closets, cabinet doors and shelving are popular for newer apartments, along with custom kitchens and media walls. Planika fireplaces are an option where the model’s room-size and clearance requirements are met.
