Custom Millwork & Cabinetry in Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Heights was New York City’s first historic district, and its 19th-century rowhouses, carriage houses and prewar co-ops reward millwork made for the room. We build it in our Industry City shop.

Brooklyn Heights homes

Built for historic Brooklyn Heights homes

The Brooklyn Heights Historic District, designated in 1965, covers most of the neighborhood: Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate and later rowhouses, carriage houses and prewar apartment buildings.

Chimney-breast alcoves

Fireplaces and mantels anchor the main rooms, and the alcoves beside them are natural places for bookcases and cabinets.

Shallow or no closets

Older houses with little closet space, where wardrobes and walk-in closets are fitted to irregular rooms.

Carriage houses

Converted carriage houses with their own access, stair and ceiling conditions, measured before anything is built.

Prewar co-ops

Apartment buildings with alteration agreements, insurance requirements and set work hours.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you add closets to a townhouse that has almost none?

Yes. We build wardrobes and walk-in closets from scratch for the space, in aluminum, glass, wood and stone, with shelving, hanging systems and drawers.

Can an ethanol fireplace work where the old chimney is closed?

Bioethanol fireplaces need no chimney, flue or gas line, and built-in units can be set into custom millwork following the model’s clearance requirements. Check any building rules first.

Do you work with architects on historic homes?

Yes. We fabricate to the drawings and specifications from your architect or designer and coordinate production with the renovation schedule.

How close is your shop?

Our shop is in Industry City, Brooklyn, a short drive from Brooklyn Heights.
