Custom Millwork & Cabinetry in Park Slope

Park Slope’s brownstone and limestone rowhouses are some of Brooklyn’s best-loved homes, and some of the hardest to fit with standard cabinetry. We build kitchens, built-ins, closets and paneling for them in Industry City, a short drive away.

Park Slope homes

Built for Park Slope rowhouses

Park Slope is built largely of late 19th- and early 20th-century rowhouses, with prewar apartment buildings near Prospect Park West; much of it lies within the Park Slope Historic District.

Narrow, deep floors

The stair runs along one wall, so kitchens are fitted to a narrow floor and storage goes under the stairs.

Parlor floors

Tall ceilings, alcoves and fireplaces where built-ins and paneling add storage without losing the house’s character.

Bedrooms without closets

Rooms that never had closets, where wardrobes are built from scratch around windows and mantels.

Apartments & co-ops

Houses divided into apartments or co-ops, and prewar buildings on and near Prospect Park West, each with its own rules.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you build closets into a brownstone bedroom that doesn’t have one?

Yes. Closets and wardrobes are built from scratch for the room, with shelving, hanging systems and drawers laid out around windows, fireplaces and uneven walls.

How do large pieces get into a rowhouse?

Access is planned before fabrication. Tall or long units can be built in sections so they fit up the stoop and stairs, then assembled on site.

Is your shop near Park Slope?

Yes. Our shop is in Industry City, Brooklyn, a short drive from Park Slope, so samples and questions can be handled in person.

Do you work with architects on historic-district houses?

Yes. We build to the drawings and specifications from your architect or designer, who handles any approvals the renovation needs.
